Gordon "Gordy" Walter Bjorkman Gordon “Gordy” Bjorkman, Retired Missionary to Africa died Saturday January 4th, 2025 in Cullman, Al at the age of 85.
Mr. Bjorkman was born in St. Paul, MN. in 1939 the son of Walter & Irene (Forcier) Bjorkman. He lived in Milwaukee, WI. and was a member of Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, WI., before moving to Africa for full-time mission work. After 20+ years on the Mission Field, he retired and married the love of his life, Sally. They moved to Joppa, Al. in 2012 and quickly became members of Gilliam Springs Baptist Church in Arab, AL.
He attended United School of Electronics graduating the Radio and Television Division and completed numerous church sponsored trainings and teachings before and after his call and service to the Mission Field of Mali, W. Africa in 1984.
Mr. Bjorkman is survived by two children: Robert (Bob) Bjorkman (Tammy Hager) and Bonnie Hobbs-Betts and husband David Betts, three grandchildren: Jonathan Hobbs, Bobby Bjorkman, and Jeffrey Bjorkman, and a few cousins.
All services will be held at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel in Arab, AL. on Saturday January 11th, 2025. The Visitation/Celebration of Life will be from 1pm to 2pm and the Funeral Service will follow from 2pm to 3pm. A brief Internment will be graveside following the Funeral Service.
