Jack Bruce Powell, Sr., age 89, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024. Born on May 11, 1935, in Troy, Alabama, Jack was the beloved son of the late Genie Lee Sellers and Lacey E. Powell.
Jack had a deep passion for music, which he shared with countless students during his tenure as band director at Albertville High School from 1970 to 1975. His love for music and dedication to his craft left a lasting legacy in the hearts of those he taught.
Jack was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Betty H. Powell, and his brother, Lacey Powell. He is survived by his loving son, Bruce Powell, and daughter, Tonya Powell. He also leaves behind his adored grandchildren, Ryan Powell, Megan Powell (Lang), David Harwell (Lana), and Kyle Harwell, as well as his great-grandchildren: Cooper, Elliot, Cohen, Lily, Sebastian, Colton, and Everleigh.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice and the many friends and family members who provided support, thoughts, and prayers during this time.
Jack will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his community, and the joy he brought to others through music. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
