A Celebration of Life service for Christy Floyd, 54 of Vestavia Hills, Al, formerly of Corinth, is scheduled for 3:00 PM Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Magnolia Funeral Home – South on Highway 45 South where special friends and family will share moments and memories of Christy’s life. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM Sunday, December 15, 2024, at Magnolia Funeral Home – South. Graveside services are scheduled for Monday, December 16, 2024 at 11 AM at Williams Cemetery. Christy passed away at her residence in Birmingham on December 11, 2024. She was born May 19, 1970, in Corinth, MS to Billy & Hilda Floyd and graduated from Kossuth High School in 1988 where she won several awards with the Kossuth basketball team and was president of her class from 7th through 12th grade. After high school, she attended the University of Southern Mississippi, graduating in 1992 and later attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Christy devoted thirty years of her life to the Birmingham law firm Burr & Forman, where she worked as a senior paralegal. Whether in school, at work, or in her personal life, Christy approached goals with a determination that resulted in accomplishment. Much of Christy’s spare time was spent enjoying the arts. She was a longtime season ticket holder to the Alabama Theater, and traveled frequently over the years to New York City to see Broadway shows. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed all kinds of sports, especially football and basketball. Her life was marked by academic and professional achievements and her hard work earned her many friends, but the greatest love of her life was her parents. They were her world, and she was theirs and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Christy is survived by her parents, Billy & Hilda Elam Floyd; her aunts, Maxine Henson, Sue Floyd, and Tammy Mask (Tim); and a host of cousins, other relatives, friends, and coworkers. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, L.V. and Beatrice Elam; her paternal grandparents, Lillard “Boots” and Arizona Floyd; and her uncles, Randal Floyd and Franklin Henson.
