Richard Serwecki, 87, of Harvest, AL died October 3, 2024, in Madison Hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was born December 12, 1936, Worcester, MA, the son of Alexander and Josephine (Baniwiez) Serwecki.
On June 28, 1958, Richard was united in marriage to Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Serwecki. He was an E5 in the Army as a top secret morse code interceptor for three and a half years. Once Richard left the army, he was employed by Norton Company in Worcester, MA as a draftsman for 35 years. He retired as a draftsman from General Electric after eight years of employment. After he retired, Richard and Betty moved to Ocala, FL. He enjoyed playing pool, shooting darts, trap shooting, wood carving, making people laugh, and his magic tricks.
He is survived by his children, Richard ‘Rick’ (Linda) Serwecki, Stephan (Kristen) Serwecki, and Carol Serwecki; grandchildren, Heather (Justin), Jonathan (Ashley), Nichoelas (Janelle), Christopher (Marianna), Alexaundrea (Tyler), Catherine (Nelly), Jarod, and Madison; great-grandchildren, Emma, Anna Franklin, Leah, Nicco, Aiden, Nina, Roman, and Caleb; brother, Bruce Serwecki; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Serwecki; and great-grandson, William Stroud.
Richard’s most notable characteristic was the ability to bring joy and laughter to others.
There will be a small memorial for the family at a later date at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell FL.
