Gerald Donald Smith, 84, of Lacey’s Spring, AL, passed away Friday, October 4, 2024.

A native Alabamian, Gerald served his country in the US Army. He worked in sales with the Pet Milk Co. and Mac Tools. Gerald loved being with his family, his greatest pride. He was very dedicated to his children and grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoyed being outdoors and working on his land.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Viola Smith and siblings, Charles, Earline, Barbara Ann, Glenn, Douglas, and Clara.

Survivors include his dedicated wife and best friend of 58 years, Pat Smith; children, Dennis Smith, Colleen Davis (Grant), and Cheryl Smith Clabaugh; grandchildren, who called him “Pop”, Brennan Davis, Brayden Davis, Blake Davis, Jack Clabaugh, and Ella Clabaugh. Gerald is also survived by many loving sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, with the funeral immediately following at the church. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 13550 Chaney Thompson Rd SE, Huntsville, AL 35803, or the Lacey’s Spring Volunteer Fire Department, 10229 AL-36, Lacey’s Spring, AL, 35754.
