VinaVINA MATHIS

was born in Wayne County, Tennessee on June 28, 1919 the daughter of the late Monroe and Lucy Hill Davis.

Ms. Mathis worked as a folder for the Iuka Shirt Factory for 20 years and she also worked at Brown Shoe Company for 15 years and McBride Meat Market for 10 years. Ms. Mathis lived for 43 years in Iuka, Mississippi and in Savannah, Tennessee for 15 years. She was a member of Gospel Assembly in Iuka, Mississippi. Ms. Mathis enjoyed yard work, sewing and cooking where she cooked for the church nursery for years. She was an avid worker at the church and loved helping others.

Ms. Mathis departed this life on April 29, 2013 in Savannah, Tennessee at the age of 93 years, 10 months and 1 day.

She is survived by her children, Wilda Mabry of Savannah, Tennessee, Jerry Mathis and his wife Bobbie of Savannah, Tennessee and Gale Powers and her husband David of Dennis, Mississippi

Ms. Mathis is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by the father of her children, Hubert M. Mathis, one daughter Betty Reno, 2 sisters, Zora Davis and Louise Hamilton and 3 brothers, Richard, Brownie and Bryson Davis.
