James Hill Riner, of Arlington, passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2013. He was born June 19, 1962 in Blytheville, Arkansas. He graduated from North Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree and also from Texas Women’s University with a Masters in Education Degree. James was a Special Needs Adaptive Physical Education teacher in the Arlington Independent School District and coached his students in the Arlington Special Olympics. He was known by everyone as “Coach Jimmy”. He was an active member of Westside Church of Christ in Irving. He is preceded in death by his father Walter Riner, and survived by his mother Jane Riner of Haughton, Louisiana; sisters Dianne Phillips and husband Lloyd of Andalusia Alabama, and Sonja Laborde and husband Luke of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; brother Walter Riner, Jr., of Haughton; nephews David McKowen, III, Andrew McKowen, Walter McKowen, James Laborde, and Casey Laborde; nieces Andrea Barbier, and Tori Laborde; great nephew David McKowen, IV; and also the students and athletes that he coached and loved. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Brown’s Memorial Chapel with Mark Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:15 AM until time of service on Saturday. Funeral services will then be held at 10 AM Monday, April 29, 2013 at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia, Alabama. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery in Leighton, Alabama. Memorial donations may be made to AISD Special Olympics, % Robin Collier, 1333 Pioneer Pkwy., Arlington, TX 76013.

May god watch over Coach Jimmy and his family he was a special man all of us that knew him in Arlington will miss him. WE LOVE YOU COACH JIMMY love Craig, Lynn and Sierra Morford. Sierra was one of Jimmy’s special kids.
