Houston Leon Lindsay Mr. Houston Leon Lindsay, of the Union Grove, Alabama, passed away at the age of 83 at Huntsville Hospital Hospice Family Care on Friday, August 16, 2024. Houston was born in Tanner, Alabama on April 19, 1941. He was a graduate of Tanner High School, and attended Florence State University (now known as UNA) where he studied engineering. In the late 1960’s, Houston married Brenda Crowe and they moved to Parches Cove where he helped establish a family farm and primarily raised corn, soybeans, and cattle. He was an avid outdoorsman who spent his free time hunting ducks, deer, and other game. His loved to fish, with his favorite being crappie fishing. He always had a spectacular garden full of vegetables and fruit. Houston was known for his willingness to help anyone at any time and he found joy in serving others even if it meant his duties had to wait.

Surviving family members include his wife, Brenda; his daughter Jennifer Gibson; son Garth; son Myles; granddaughters Jada Nix, Julie Gibson, Meredith and Micah Lindsay; sister Myrna Burgreen; sister Madge Lindsay; and sister Dianne Brown. Preceding him in death are his father Leon Lindsay and mother Ruth Lindsay and sons-in-law Wade Nix and John Gibson.

Services for Houston Lindsay will be at the Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel in Arab on Monday, August 19, 2024. Visitation is from 11:00am until 1:00pm with the funeral service beginning at 1:00pm. Reverend Jack Lovelace will officiate. Burial and short graveside service will be at Athens City Cemetery at 3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
