Brother James .H Bishop, 81, formerly of Hackleburg, received a new address on April 25, 2013. His home is now in Heaven with The Lord Jesus Christ, whom he has preached for more than 48 years. Redeeming love has been his theme throughout his preaching ministry.
Our loss is Heaven’s gain and he will be greatly missed forever. Though he is absent from the body, he is indeed present with the Lord, and one day we will be reunited with him again.
Brother Bishop pastored ten churches in his ministry. First Baptist Church of Hackleburg was his home church where he pastored for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, W. A. Bishop; mother, Ollie Bishop; three brothers, Irving Bishop, Luchion Bishop and R. Lee Bishop; two sisters, Ella Ray Brown and Ruby Pugh.
He is survived by one brother, Wayne Bishop; and three sisters, Betty Cummings, Sharon Howell and Hilda Elrod.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of almost 60 years, Fay Bishop; and their five children, Donna Bishop, Lynda Pounders (Randy), Kathie Gilmore (David), Mark Bishop (Christy), Shannon Bishop (Melanie).
He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters; and a host of nieces; and nephews; and extended family.
The visitation will be held at First Baptist Church, Hackleburg Saturday, April 27, 2013,
from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Service will be at the church Sunday, April 28, 2013, 2 p.m., with Judge Bobby Aderholt and Shannon W. Bishop officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Tree Cemetery.
