Mrs. Mary Mays, age 89, passed away late Monday in Parsons. She was born July 21, 1934 in Decatur County to the late Loy and Eula Davis Box. She was a retired factory worker, working at Decaturville Sportswear, DMIII, and Eaton. She was a member of Beacon United Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include her son, James Kenneth Mays (Janet); her daughter, Judy Darlene Mills (Jeff Hopper); five brothers, Edward Box (Mary), Doug Box, Charles Box (Nadine), Billy Box (Carol), and Larry Box (Darla); one sister, Mayrene Pratt; four grandchildren, Daniel Bradfield (Brittany), Jamie Mays, Rodney Hopper, and Tashia Rosson (Anthony); seven great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Billy J. Mays; three brothers, Junior Box, J. D. Box, and Tommy Box; and three sisters, Hayrue Whitson, Sue Baker, and Lavon Hosford.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 PM, Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Beacon United Pentecostal Church. Interment will follow in Darden Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Pafford Funeral Home in Lexington on Wednesday, 10 AM – 8 PM and on Thursday, 10 AM – 1:30 PM.
