Wilfred C. Griffin Jr., age 78 of Florence, took his last breath at 5:48am on July 15, 2024 with his daughter at his bedside.
Born in Hutchinson, KS in 1946, he lived in several states as a Navy child before settling in Mondeville, LA in 1955. Will graduated from St. Paul’s, and attended Sotuheastern University. He then married his first wife, Earlene Jenevein in 1968 and had his only child in 1970.
Will worked on the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway from 1970-2000. He began as a patrolman and retired as assistant general manger. He served on the St. Tammany police jury representing Ward 4, District 4 from 1984-2000.
He married his second wife, Jane Griffin in 1990. They enjoyed traveling and sight-seeing in Italy, Maine, and San Francisco. He enjoyed classic cars, singing karaoke, and telling jokes and stories. He also enjoyed spending time with his great grandkids and going out to eat. Will was very close to his son-in-law, Jimmy Rea. He thought Jimmy hung the moon.
Will is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Rea (Jimmy); grandchildren, Alexandra K. Kane (Timothy), and Beau (BoJangles) Davis; great grandchildren, Charleigh K. Phillips, Chandler E. Phillips, and Jude (little shit) B. Kane. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Irene Griffin; and wife, Jane.
