Ronnie Dale Walden, age 71, of the Beech Creek area of Guntersville, Alabama passed away Thursday afternoon May 16, 2024 at Huntsville Hospital. Ronnie was born February 6, 1953 in Marshall County, AL, son of Benjamin Harvey Walden and Lillie Mae Gasoway Walden. He served in and retired from the United States Army reaching the rank of Sergeant E-5. After his military retirement Ronnie worked for the City of Guntersville in the Public Works Department. He was married to Dina Sue King Walden.
In Ronnie’s leisure time, when he wasn’t enjoying the company of his grandchildren (his pride and joy) he could often be found fishing or working on and restoring old vehicles. He was also a big fan of Alabama football and NASCAR racing.
Ronnie leaves behind a loving and supportive family including his wife, Dian Sue Walden, son and daughter in law, Benjamin and Kori Walden; grandchildren, Alexi Baker (Trenton), Emma Portschell, Gaige Portschell, and Lily Walden; sisters in law, Syble Walden, Patricia Lecroy (Tommy Lecroy) and Wanda Collins; special cousin, Donnie Elliott; and a host of extended family members including nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding Ronnie in death include his parents, Benjamin and Lillie Mae Walden; and his two brothers, Benny Walden and Rickey Walden.
Services for Ronnie will be Sunday, May 19, 2024 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel in Arab, AL. The visitation will be from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. Brother Kevin Stephens will officiate. Burial will be in Guntersville City Cemetery in Guntersville, AL. Pallbearers escorting Ronnie to his final resting place will be Gaige Portschell, Allen Walden, Donnie Elliott, Billy Wayne Smith, George Walden and Benny King. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Doug Moulder, Bubba Daniels, Josh King, Jerry Wayne King, and Joe Bob and Bobbie.
