Franklin “Frank” Lee Sparkman passed peacefully on January 25, 2024.
He was born on March 7, 1933, in Alabama to Floyd and Lorene Sparkman. He married the love of his life, Yolanda Jean McCart, on February 4, 1956, in Sunnyvale, California.
Frank served 4 years in the U.S. Navy, graduated from Florence State Teachers’ College in Alabama, graduated from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, pastored 31 years full time, served 3 years as a Chaplain in the U.S. Army, served as an interim in his semi-retirement, and continued doing various forms of ministry at Mt. View Baptist Church of Stanislaus County for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his 6 brothers, and his only sister. He is survived by his wife and by their daughters: Judy (David) Ogden, Mary (Patrick) O’Grady, and Helen (Jeffrey) Carriker; 8 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Ed, and sisters-in-law Marilyn McCart and Jean Sparkman, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock, CA 95380. A funeral service is scheduled at 11:00 a.m., followed by a committal service at Turlock Memorial Park.
