Audrey Nell Jones Yarbrough of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 3, 2024.

Audrey was born in Marshall County, Alabama on March 27, 1926. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Samuel Jones and Mary Verna Jones, a sister, Mylan Creel, and a brother, Quincy Jones. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Lynnese Rau, and nieces and nephew. She was also blessed to have lifelong friends and co-workers whom she cared for deeply.

She worked for 32 years for the U.S. Department of the Army, Missile Logistics Center, as a Supply Cataloger before retiring in 1988.

She lived many years in Horton, Alabama where she was an active member of Bethany Baptist Church. Upon moving to Huntsville to be nearer her daughter, she was an active member of Whitesburg Baptist Church, where she particularly loved her Sunday School class and class members. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed sewing, crafts, and cooking. She loved to cook and share food with family and friends. She also had especially fond memories of the dogs with whom she shared her life over the years.

Special thanks go to Thrive at Jones Farm for their loving care, and special thanks to those friends who visited her over the last few years; she loved you like family.

Visitation will be from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the Whitesburg Baptist Church South Campus Chapel. A brief funeral service will follow. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Bethany Baptist Church in Horton, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, her family suggests that memorials may be made to Whitesburg Baptist Church, or Bethany Baptist Church, or to a charity of choice.
