Phyllis Jean Bowling, age 76 of Winchester, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Southern Tennessee Regional Health Systems. She was born in Rose Hill, Virginia on August 14, 1947, to the late John Thomas and Willie Mae (Ely) Quinn. Before her retirement, she was employed by the Franklin County Board of Education as a Teacher’s Aide. She enjoyed taking trips to the beach, going shopping, and attending concerts, as well as spending time with her family and dogs, Finley and Molly. Jean was a collector of Coca-Cola memorabilia. A dedicated wife and mother, she will be remembered for her kind and generous nature and her wonderful sense of humor. She was a member of Owl Hollow Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Tommy Quinn, and Pat Quinn; and an aunt who was like her mother, Dorothy “Dot” Norman. Jean is survived by her loving husband of fifty-four years, Dennis Bowling; children, Jeffrey (Misty) Bowling, and Melanie Bowling; grandchildren, Caiden Bowling, and Karley Bowling; siblings, Linda (David) Bohannan, Johnnie Mae Sharp, and Kay Breedlove; and several nieces and nephews. Jean and Dennis were parents for many years and were a part of the lives of eighty-seven children, including Leah Kelley. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 29, 2023, in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Bro. Walter Rayburn officiating. Interment will follow at Winchester Memorial Park.
