Funeral for Lela Mae Blackwood, 86, of Town Creek will be Friday, April 12, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Dan Deitz and her grandson, Bobby Sutton officiating. Burial will be in Ferguson Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Blackwood died Monday, April 8, 2013, at NHC Healthcare of Moulton. She was born August 12, 1926, in Kentucky to Vivon Sutton and Minne Edington Sutton. She was a member of The Church of God at West Lawrence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Blackwood; her parents; one daughter, Minnie Warren; and stepmother, Ida Hanvy Sutton.
Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Sutton and Guye of Town Creek; one brother, Robert Sutton of Town Creek; one sister, Jewel Anderson and Andy of Town Creek; two grandsons, Bobby Sutton and Annette of Alaska and Dustin Warren and Marie of Town Creek; two great-grandsons, Braden Sutton and James Warren; and son-in-law, Marvin Warren and Vonda of Mount Hope.
Pallbearers will be Gary D. Blackwood, Byron Dale Blackwood, Dale Sutton, Rickey Sutton, Greg Sutton and Mark Sutton.
