Alma Ruth Cannon Hooper

Mrs. Alma Ruth Cannon Hooper, age 91, of Rock Island, TN, died Sunday, December 17, 2023 at her home. She was born on January 15, 1932 in Sparta, TN, was a member of Newtown The Baptist Church for over 60 years, was the owner of Hoopers Greenhouse, and later on worked at DeKalb County Florist. Ruth loved her family, her church, and especially her grandkids. She enjoyed playing Bingo at the Warren County Senior Center. Mrs. Hooper was preceded in death by her parents Lannie and Maude Knowles Cannon, her husband of 65 years Howard Eugene Hooper, twin daughters Rhonda Kay Hooper and Donna Faye Hooper, and son Billy Howard Hooper.

 

Survivors include her daughter Kathy (Norman) Atnip, grandchildren Monica (Tommy) Chaffe, Lynn (James) Jones, Leslie Reynolds, Jerimey (Dana) Apple, Jamie Copley, Jason (Nicole) Apple, Mandy (Nathan) Way, and Sam Copley, great grandchildren Jacob (Makaylan), Ashley, Skylan, Sophia, Christopher, Aaron (Nikayla), Rosa, Conner, Peyton, Tori, Jem, Khloe, John, Tinsley, Piper, Keana, Clayton, Kelsey, and William, and four great-great grandchildren Atlas, Gannon, Riley, and Louella.

 

Funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 20, 2023 in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Elder Darrell Cantrell, Elder Frank Randolph, and Elder Gary McBride will officiate. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The family of Ruth Hooper will receive friends on Tuesday from 12:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at 1:00 P.M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.

 

Memorial donations may be made to the Warren County Senior Center in Ruth’s memory.
