Era “Gay” Agatha Caldwell White, 83, passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Sunshine Health Care in Pontotoc, MS. Gay was born on July 18, 1940, in Tupelo Hospital, to Ellis and Jimmie Brandon Caldwell. She lived all of her life (except a few early years of marriage) in Pontotoc County. She attended 12 years of school at Sherman High School and later IJC where she obtained a registered nursing degree. Gay worked as an RN for 45 years.
Survivors include her son, Nikki White (Gayle); her grandsons, Nathan White (Anna Claire) and Jacob White (Olivia); her great grandchildren, Margie Grace, Lilly Anna, and Calla Ruth White and Ellis Olen White; her nephews, Scott Caldwell (Anita), Sammy Neal Caldwell, Tim Caldwell (Alishia), and Steve Caldwell; and a niece Susie Hamilton (Junior).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Olen White; her son, William White; and her brothers, Tracy Caldwell (Grace), Sam Caldwell, and Jim Caldwell; and her sister, Elizabeth Nan Baggett (Lamar).
Services will be Friday, December 15, 2023, at 2PM at Longview Baptist Church with Bro. Brandon Murphree officiating. Visitation will begin at 1PM and continue to service time. Burial will follow in Longview Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Elton Litton, Brad Litton, Russell Dyer, Brent Wiseman, Mark Brannon, and Roy Wiseman.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Scott and Anita Caldwell, Sammy Neal Caldwell, Tim and Alishia Caldwell, Susie and Junior Hamilton, Steve Caldwell and wife, Roger Chism and wife, Mike and Kim Pate, Jason and Kayla Walker, and Tim and Susan Murphree.
