Mo BrooksHUNTSVILLE – This morning Congressman Mo Brooks (R-AL) made the following statement on the passing of former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Baroness Margaret Thatcher.

“Margaret Thatcher was a great friend to the United States, and to all free people, everywhere. Throughout the darkest days of the Cold War, she stood alongside President Reagan, fighting unwaveringly for liberty and against the tyranny of communism and economic failures of socialism. The daughter of a grocer who rose to the highest elected office in her country, she knew the value of hard work and free enterprise. Her belief that economic freedom is dependent on personal liberty, and personal responsibility leads to national wealth, was so successful that it became known as ‘Thatcherism.’

“Margaret Thatcher was spot on when she noted that, ‘The trouble with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’smoney.’ America would do well to remember and heed her wisdom.

“She will long be remembered not only as the United Kingdom’s first female Prime Minister, but as one of its greatest leaders. Martha and I extend our deepest sympathies to Lady Thatcher’s family, and to the people of the United Kingdom.”

She was a Socialist…period..(I am not saying that is bad)…she believed and supported socialized pension, medicine, old age pension and housing….she bragged on spending more on these areas….she disagreed with certain socialist measures but it was a disagreement between socialists….she had a top high tax rate of 60%….her lowest tax bracket was 25%….she believed in Charles Darwin….she was to the left of the most US liberals today….she believed in global warming and a international means to control it….she was a British socialist “conservative” which is to the left of most US liberals….and BTW, the Soviet Union fell apart on it’s own….Many riots broke out during her term as British PM and she was eventually run out of office due to her “poll tax”……can’t rewrite history just because someone dies…..not a single Republican in America today would vote for her if she were on the ballot…..
