Leslie Michelle “Shelley” Young Crawford, age 54 of Ashland, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at the Clay County Nursing Home. She was born in Talladega County and has spent most of her life living in Clay County.
Shelley is survived by her mother, Wanda Jean Hammond Young of Ashland; 2 children, Dylan Hawkins (Karley) of Delta, and April Travis Smith (Justin) of Cragford; grandchildren, Jackson, Adaline and Arya; sisters, Dara Crawford (Josh) of Oxford and Julia Young of Tuscaloosa; niece, Rachael Wright of Anniston; nephew, Andrew Wright (Haley) of Jacksonville; great niece, Elizabeth; great nephews, Caleb, Levi, Wyatt and Mason; and a large extended family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Junior Young, and grandparents, Ollie Dee Young and Renie Barkley Young.
Shelley worked at Russell’s Mill’s for many years before working for Wellborn. She enjoyed horses, crafts, camping, gardening, spending time with her friends and family, and loved random adventures; her main one was to Israel in 2007. She also loved the beach and palm trees. The most important part of her life was her grandkids.
Shelley loved helping people at the nursing home. When it came to the activities, she was always willing to help and plan to ensure that everyone had a good time.
She will be deeply missed.
