Jerry Keith Wheatley, a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, 64, of Decatur, Alabama (formerly Chattanooga, Tennessee) was called home to be with his Savior on October 8th, 2023.On this day, the world lost an amazing Husband, Dad, Pawpaw, Man. He will be missed daily by those who knew and loved him.
Keith was born on November 2nd, 1958, to Graydon Wheatley and Robbie Hubbard Leslie in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his father, Graydon.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Welch Wheatley; sons, Brad Wheatley (Kendra) of Soddy Daisy, TN and Capt. Greg Wheatley (Crystal) of Ringgold, GA; daughter, Heather Wheatley McClellan (CPO Zachary McClellan) of Gulfport, MS; grandchildren, Mackenzi and Dru Wheatley (Brad), Piper Wheatley (Greg), Nora, Finley, and Elliot McClellan (Heather); Mother, Robbie Leslie of Mantachie, MS; brothers, Mike Hubbard (Betty) of Lawrenceburg, TN and Terry Wheatley (Merry), of Decatur, AL; sister, Chere Wheatley Lindley (Greg), of Fulton, MS and many additional family members, cousins, nephews, and nieces too many to mention each by name.
Keith will be remembered for the wonderful husband he was, for his love and pride for his family, and for his passion for making his grandkids smile. He was a devoted child of God who looked forward to fellowship with his church family every week.
He was also a loyal Patriot who was known not only for his contributions to multiple Veteran and Wounded Hero outreach programs, but also for his proud display of the American Flag behind his red, white and blue Harley Davidson every chance he had.
Visitation will be from 11:00am – 1:00 PM, (central time) Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Shelton Funeral Home 2105 Beltline Rd. SW in Decatur, AL. Funeral procession, then burial will follow in Decatur City Cemetery at 1:30PM.. A closing prayer will be given by Pastor Rickey Clemons of Somerville Baptist Church.
Pallbearers include Brad Wheatley, Greg Wheatley, Zachary McClellan, Dru Wheatley, Matt Vinson and Daniel Vinson.
