Eva Oberia White Sowell Profile PhotoEva Oberia Sowell was born July 6, 1928 at her home in Hardin County, TN the daughter of the late Ivan Washington White and Nona Pyran White. She departed this life on September 26, 2023 in Selmer, Tennessee at the age of 95 Years, 2 Months, 20 Days.

Her immediate family consisted of eleven kids and the whole family consisted of sixteen children; four step brothers and one step sister. Her family went to church in her early life by horse and wagon. The old church had large trees where they would tied up the horses.

At the age of 13 years, Eva became a believer and attended the Church of Christ until she married Lawrence Sowell on June 20, 1942 at the age of 15. Shortly after marriage they attended West Shiloh Baptist Church and continued to attend until she was admitted into AHC McNairy care facility in 2016. Afterwards she attended Riverview Baptist Church whenever she could.

Eva and Lawrence lived mostly in the Shiloh area until his passing on November 2, 2002. They were married 60 years before his death.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Neal Sowell in 2003; and thirteen brothers and sisters.

She leaves behind one daughter, Elizabeth Hill of Adamsville, TN; two sons, Larry Sowell of Shiloh, TN and Rickey Sowell of Adamsville, TN; two daughters-in-law, Deborah Sowell and Martha Sowell; two brothers, Roger White of Pigeon Forge, TN and Philp White of Grand Patirie, TX; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Before bed at night, the TV was turned off and she would read verses from the Bible.
