Elisabeth M. Gates age 83 of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 in Decatur. Mrs. Gates was born November 6, 1929 in Chicago, IL to William T. Maplesden and Ellen Milligan Maplesden.
Services will Friday, April 5, 2013 11:30 a.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. prior to the service. A private family burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery with Pat Lawrence officiating.
Mrs. Gates was a member of First Baptist Church of Athens.
Preceded in death by three husbands, James H. Massey, Billy Greene and Oscar Mac Gates; daughter, Sarah M. McCulloch; parents, William and Ellen Maplesden; three brothers, Bill Maplesden, Bob Maplesden and Hugh Maplesden.
Survived by a daughter, Susan M. Harpe and husband Bob of Decatur , three sons, Jim Massey and wife , Paige of Louisville, KY, Tim Massey and wife, Kathy of Athens and David Massey and wife, Tina of Franklin, TN; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Larry Maplesden, Bobby Maplesden, Johnny Maplesden, Steve Phillips, David Clem and Will Baker.
