Peggy Kemp Dycus

Peggy Dycus Pharris Peggy Kemp Dycus was born in Jackson County December 3, 1936 to Fred and Pauline Kemp.  She was the third of four children, Ward, Joe, Peggy and Kenneth.  On August 25, 1959 she married Foy Dycus.  She passed away peacefully Thursday, August 31, 2023.

She is survived by her 3 boys and her 3 daughters in law, Richard and Patty Dycus of Cookeville, TN, Mark and Alicia Dycus of Murfreesboro, TN, David and Amanda Dycus of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Megan Dycus, Hilary Dycus, Hunter Dycus and wife Meredith Dycus, Carson Dycus and wife Addie Dycus, Will Dycus, Ethan Dycus and Aidan Dycus; and last but certainly not least a great grandson, Sam Dycus.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Pauline Kemp; brothers, Ward, Joe, and Ken Kemp; Lanita Kemp, Margi Kemp, Foy Dycus, and Elmer Pharris.

After finishing high school in Gainesboro, TN she went on to earn her Business Education degree at Tennessee Tech. She then taught school for one year, and then she and Foy began their family where she was a homemaker for the duration of her life. She was a member of Madison Church of Christ and Rivergate Church of Christ and had many friends we know and love. She married Elmer Pharris in September 29, 2013. She lived a happy and full life amongst a large family and friend base.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, September 8, 2023 from 10:00-12:00 PM at Woodfin Memorial Chapel in Murfreesboro, TN. Funeral service will begin at 12:00 PM with Jeff Brown officiating. A graveside service will follow at Dycus Cemetery in Red Boling Springs, TN at 3:00 PM.
