George Otis CochranGeorge Otis Cochran, 90, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023, after leaving St. Joseph hospital in Ypsilanti, MI, and spending one night in Hospice care at Angela Hospice in Livonia, MI.

Born March 30, 1933, in Hickman County, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Robert Clarence and the late Delia Mai George Cochran. On February 20, 1956, he married Lorraine Smith in Angola, IN. She preceded him in death. They were married 53 loving years. Later after spending time alone, he met Mary Frances, they were married for several years, and she precedes him in death.

George was a member of the Ridge Road Church of Christ, he worked at Ford Motor Co. for 42 years and also held a second job for nearly 20 years at Kaiser Elementary school as a custodian. George was a very hardworking man who worked endless hours to provide for his family. He never wanted his kids to be without and taught us all that important lesson as well.

George served time in the Army after leaving his home in Tennessee as a young man. His dream was to someday return to Germany to share the beauty of this country with his wife, unfortunately that never transpired.

George spent nearly every July for two weeks visiting his family and friends in his hometown of Tennessee. Those memories will long be remembered. Swimming in Swan Creek, so cold and swift, annual fish fry’s, Henry Horton state park, and simple relaxing and having fun, eating huge watermelons on the ole porch at his childhood log home, to name a few of those fond memories.

Survivors include his daughter, Delia (Gordon) Hamilton of Dexter, MI; son, George E. Cochran of Ypsilanti, MI; half-daughter, Donna (Earl) Young; four grandchildren, Carmen, Christopher, Adam and Brandon.

Visitation will be held 6-8 pm Monday, August 28, 2023, at Stark Funeral Professionals, 101 S. Washington St., Ypsilanti, Michigan. The funeral service will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 29, 2023, with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Brother Leonard White of Ridge Road Church of Christ will officiate.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 1, 2023, at Anderson, Stephenson, Hunt Cemetery in Hickman County, TN. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home.
