Our precious Mama, Janice (Jan) Annette Henderson went to be with the LORD on August 24, 2023 at the age of 73 at her little cabin with her loved ones by her side.
Jan was born August 12, 1950 in DeKalb County to James and Betty Henderson. She loved being with her family at reunions and holidays. She loved watching her grandkids and great-grandkids playing and growing. She also enjoyed planting flowers and watching them grow and she loved watching her humming birds flying around the feeder on her front porch.
Jan was married to Hugh Don Henderson on December 23, 1966. The two were life long companions and friends. They were blessed with two children: Darlean and Chris.
She is survived by her mother Betty Henderson McCord; her children Darlean (Pete) Swindall and Chris (Desiree) Henderson; grandchildren Josh (Emmy) Smith, Justin (Lashay) Smith, Dylan (Mindy) Newberry, Jacob (Fantasy) Henderson, Carson Henderson and Brodie Henderson; six great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters; brothers Darrell (Nancy) Henderson, Gerald (Susan) Henderson; sisters Wanda Foster and Vivian McAllister; and brothers-in-law Danny Ray (Charlene) Henderson, Clinton Henderson; sisters-in-law Becky Reed and Jennie Wright; and several nieces and nephews.
Jan is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years Hugh Don Henderson; her daddy James Henderson; sister Nell Simpson; sister-in-law Mary Henderson; and niece Beth Turner.
A special “thank you” to two loving friends Charlene Smith and Frankie Ashley, two loving nieces and a nephew Heather Stotts, Amber Gregg, and Jerry Henderson.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. David McCarrell officiating. Burial will follow in Walkers Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 4 until 8 p.m.
Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Payne is in charge of arrangements.
