Peggy Sams  Peggy McGill Sams, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and beloved member of Friendship Church in Athens, AL, passed away at her home on Saturday, August 12, 2023. Peggy grew up on a farm in Maxton, NC, followed by college at UNC Greensboro. She married Randy Sams in 1969 and gave birth to her first child, Alex, in 1971, followed by a daughter, Jennifer, in 1974. She began her career in Tupperware so she could devote her time to her family and remained very successful for 38 years when she retired for health reasons. Randy and Peggy lived in Oak Ridge & Kernersville, NC, Franklin & Germantown, TN, and retired in Athens, AL. Everywhere they lived, Peggy was active in church and community. She loved to garden, cook, and spend time with family and friends. She is survived by Randy Sams, her spouse of 54 years, her son, Alex (Linda) Sams, her daughter, Jennifer (John) Usher, grandson, Jacob Usher, granddaughters Emily Usher and Danielle Sams, as well as a sister, Doris Ann Hawthorne.
