It is with deep sadness that we share with you the passing of Billy Gerald Jackson, on Friday,
July 28, 2023, at Hanceville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. God gave him a peaceful ending
to a life well lived.
Billy Gerald Jackson was born on October 2, 1936, to Wallace and Mildred Jackson.
Billy Jackson earned the nickname of “Red” from a young age because of his red hair. Most
people knew him by that name. Billy “Red” grew up in Corner, Alabama where he attended
school. He was a stellar athlete and loved to attend class reunions and Corner Alumni
banquets. After school, Billy “Red” went into the workforce where he led by example, showing
his children and grandchildren the importance of hard work and dedication. He was a deacon,
Sunday school teacher, and bible study leader for most of his adulthood at New Temple Baptist
Church. Billy “Red” was a Godly man who loved the Lord and served him well. His prayers
before family meals provided peace and assurance to all who heard them.
The funeral service is Monday, July 31, 2023, at 11:00 am at New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Rev.
Ken Patterson and Rev. JJ Creel will officiate. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am. Due to the heat, a
private burial to follow in the New Horizon Memorial Gardens.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, June Jackson and his son, Timothy Gerald
Jackson. He is survived by his two daughters, Beverly Canady (Neil), Tammy Patterson (Ken),
daughter-in-law, Angie Jackson, brother, Louis Jackson (Joyce), 8 grandchildren and 14 great
grandchildren.
Special thanks to Magnolia House Assisted Living in Oneonta and Hanceville Nursing and Rehab
Center in Hanceville for their excellent care.
In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to New Temple Church in Dora, Alabama, for their
building fund.
