Johnny Lee Woods was born October 13, 1961, to the late Mary and Clyde Woods. Mr. Woods quietly slipped away, July 28, 2023, at Hospice Family Care in Huntsville, AL.
Mr. Woods attended Huntsville High School. While attending school, he loved playing football. Mr. Woods lead the city as the #1 running back in the state. His football career ended due to a car accident. In addition to football, Mr. Woods had a passion for farming with his dad. He enjoyed living in the country and working on the Flemming Farm. He was very big on family. His daughter, Carla and grandson, Bryson meant the world to him. He would speak very highly over his grandson “Bryson” and enjoyed playing games on Playstation with him. Mr. Woods love for his nieces and nephews was unconditional.
Mr. Woods accepted Christ at an early age. He rededicated his life to Christ at the First Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he became a member until his passing.
Mr. Woods was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clyde Woods, Jr.; and sisters, Mary Etta Everson and Judy Woods-Holman.
He leaves cherished memories with: his children, Chico (Renee) Dutchess of Madison, AL, Roy (Sheriena) Dutchess of Huntsville, AL and Carla Coleman of Huntsville, AL; three sisters, Katherine Woods, Louise Woods and Yolanda (Donda) Raysor, all of Huntsville, AL; two brothers, Otis (Robin) Woods of Huntsville, AL and Mack (Angela) Woods of Gurley, AL; eleven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; two aunts, Fannie Mae Burks of Leeds, AL and Shelia Woods of Huntsville, AL; one uncle, Roger Miles of Ft. Wayne, IN; and a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 28, 2023, at the First Seventh-day Adventist Church (1303 Evangel Dr. NW Huntsville, AL 35816). Interment will be in the Meadowlawn Garden of Peace. Mr. Woods will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.
Public viewing will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Thursday, July 27, 2023, and 8:30 until 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 28, 2023. at the Royal Funeral Home.
