Wayne Patrick “Pat” Meguire , AKA Bigun and Bigdaddy, departed this life on Friday, July 21, 2023 after a valiant battle with cancer from his Tupelo residence. Born in Tupelo on May 30, l962, Pat grew up here and graduated from Shannon High School in l980 where he played football. He married the love of his life, his wife, Janice Burroughs at Oak Valley Christian Church on March 27, l981. A very hard worker and a perfect provider for his family he dearly loved, Pat spent his working days for several companies where he brokered the importing of furniture and furniture supplies. His last employment was Warehouse manager for Dirt Cheap. Pat was the former owner of Romie’s Grocery. Loved by everyone he met, his genial personality belied the astute businessman he was. He revered the Ole Miss Rebels, was a regular tailgater in the Grove and he seldom missed a fall football game. He was a rock to and fiercely loved his family, and also his second family- the Burroughs clan. Pat took care and loved with a perfect love his mother, Sylvia and his children. He was known as GrandDaddy and passionately loved his three grandchildren. He and Janice loved to travel and enjoyed many cruises together. A lover of music, Pat was the “honorary” manager of the musical group, “Mississippi Stomp” Pat was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Tupelo.

A service honoring his life will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, July 25, 2023 from the Sadie M. Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with his pastor, Bro. Matt Powell, officiating. Burial will follow in Tupelo Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5PM-7PM Monday and from Noon-service time on Tuesday all at Holland Funeral Directors. Pat is survived by his wife, Janice Burroughs Meguire of Tupelo; his son, Patrick Jefferson “PJ” Meguire of Nashville; his daughter, Stephanie Meguire Coon of Tupelo; his mother, Sylvia Wagner Lipford of Tupelo; his 3 grandchildren, Lennox Coon, Ember Coon and Finn Coon; a sister, Wanda Sue Benson of Tupelo; a niece, Amanda Bensonand her daughter, Christina Nichols and his Burroughs family whom he loved. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Willard and June Wagner and Elsie and Billy Meguire; his step father, Melvin Lipford and his in laws, George and Josephine Burroughs.
