John William Kirby, age 78 passed away July 5, 2023, at his home.
He was born September 11, 1944, in Henderson, the son of the late Wells Holman and Gladys Johnson Kirby. He attended Chester County Schools and married Dale Jones in 1974. They made their home in the Glendale Community. He worked as a carpet installer at Duck’s Carpet and several other carpet companies. He retired as warehouse manager at Deaton’s Carpet One.
He enjoyed raising cows and raising and showing horses, TN Walking Horses, and Pleasure Quarter Horses. His favorite horse was Frosty.
He was an avid bowler and member of the Jackson Businessman’s League for over forty years.
He was a member of the Henderson Church of Christ.
Mr. Kirby is survived by his wife, Dale Annette Jones Kirby of Henderson, and a sister-in-law, Robbie Kirby.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wells Kirby.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Friday, July 7th at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with Bro. Ben Flatt officiating. Burial will follow in Henderson City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM service time on Friday.
