Funeral for Jennifer Lorance McKay, 71, of Decatur will be Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 2PM at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bryan Blass and Rev. Cecil Berry officiating. Visitation will be from 1-2 PM at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Roselawn Mausoleum.
Mrs. McKay was born November 27, 1951 in Decatur to James and Fran Lorance, and had lived here all her life. She went to be with her Lord on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at her residence.
She was a member of Central Baptist Church, where she had taught the 9th and 10th Grade Girl’s Sunday School Class for several years. She was also a long-time advocate for people with disabilities, joining the Individual and Family Support Program for Region One in 1993. During the following years she served as secretary, vice chairman, and chairperson of this organization.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Lorance.
She is survived by her husband, James McKay of Decatur; mother, Fran Lorance of Decatur; sister, Paula Drake of Franklin, TN; nieces, Brandi Johnson, and Haley Ford; grandnieces, Nora Ford, Ana Ford, and Sarah Kate Johnson; grandnephew, Ethan Ford.
Pallbearers will be Larry Pollack, Sparky Moore, Greg Moore, Ethan Ford, Larry Banks, and Dewey Lynch.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church or Hospice of the Valley.
