James “Jim” Wesley Knowles, age 80 of Cordova, passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2023 at his residence. He was married for 60 years to his high school sweetheart and had two wonderful children. He worked at Hayes Aircraft (PEMCO) in Birmingham, Alabama for 38 years. After his retirement he loved working on his farm, raising his cattle and spending time on his tractors. Most of all he loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff of Aveanna (Comfort Care) Hospice.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, graveside services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at New Prospect Cemetery. Chris Godfrey will officiate.
Mr. Knowles was preceded in death by his Parents-James and Addie Knowles; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law-Tom and Christine McCarty; Brothers-in-law-Tom Smith, Willice Bolton, Pete Earnest and Jeff Brown; Many other relatives and friends.
He is survived by his Wife-Agness Knowles; Daughter-Michelle Gordon (Flash); Son-Mike Knowles (Tammy); Sisters-June Smith, Judy Wilson (Troy), Jane Bolton and Janice Ganey (Mike); Sisters-in-law-Tommy Earnest, Pat Day (Don), Betty Baker (James) and Kris Fuller (Greg); Grandchildren-Heather Tittle (Kelsey), Justin Knowles (Malinda) and Cason Gordon; Great Grandchildren-Ethan Pair, Brayden Knowles, Sawyer Knowles and Olivia Knowles.
Pallbearers will be Lamar Smith, Kelsey Tittle, Keith Baker, Justin Knowles, Cason Gordon and Ethan Pair.
