Roger Gilbert BaschabRoger Gilbert Baschab, 81, Muscle Shoals, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023. Visitation will be Thursday, June 1, from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m. at Our Lady of the Shoals Catholic Church, Tuscumbia. A Rosary Service will begin at 10:45, and the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., at the church. Fr. Vincent Bresowar will officiate. Interment will be in Margerum Cemetery, Cherokee.

Roger was a member of Our Lady of the Shoals Catholic Church and a former member of St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, Foley. He attended Sheffield High School and Florence State College, where he met his wife of fifty-five years, Pamela Willis. He was a top graduate of the University of Alabama School of Journalism in 1971. Roger was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree; the Order of St. Gregory; and the American Legion Adjutant Post 31. He was a Vincentian with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and he served as a Lay Eucharist Minister. Roger was a Retired Captain with the US Air Force. He was a distinguished graduate of the Officers Training School, earning the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the National Defense Service Medal, the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and the Army Good Conduct Medal. Roger was Chairman of the Republican Party Executive Committee of Baldwin and Montgomery Counties. He managed the judicial campaigns of his wife, Judge Pamela Willis Bachab, Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals, Ret., and his daughters, Denise and Mary.

Roger devoted his life to Christ, family, and service to others, delivering Meals on Wheels, and visiting and taking communion to people at Cottage of the Shoals.

Roger was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Gilbert Baschab and Jack Willis Haslacker; and parents Gilbert Baschab and Martha Madeliene Armstrong.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Willis Baschab; children, John David Baschab (Mary), Denise Adeliene Green (Phillip), and Mary Martha Olivia Haslacker (Chris); brothers, Charles Armstrong and Christopher Baschab (Shamy); sisters, Karin Matheny (David) and Sharon Badgerow; grandchildren, Emily Frances Baschab, William John Baschab, Joseph Abel Morris, Norma June Haslacker, Otto Dale Haslacker, Penelope Dawn Haslacker, and Madeliene Denise Haslacker, and Roger Allen Haslacker, due in June.

Pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus.
