John R. Tomlin, 79, of Huntsville, passed away Sunday. Mr. Tomlin graduated from the University of Georgia in 1960. He served in the Korean War with the U.S. Navy, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Baccus Tomlin; son, Robert Brett Tomlin and wife, Amy, of Huntsville; daughter, Dawn Elizabeth Tomlin-Wales of Huntsville; grandchildren, Sarah and Foster Tomlin and Brooklan Wales; brother, Jack Tomlin of San Jose, CA; and sister, Lois Butler of Smyrna, GA.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Huntsville Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Mike Tomlin, Gene Stewart, Foster Tomlin, David R. Dobbs, Derek Wiseman and Todd Appling. Honorary pallbearers are Jonathan E. Isaac and Nathaniel B. Isaac.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
