Terry Delane Chance, 80 of Gaylesville, Alabama, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023. He was born January 12, 1943 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Russell Kenneth Chance and Rubye Morrison Chance. He was a graduate of Aiken High School in South Carolina. Mr. Chance was a veteran of the United States Army and Merchant Marines. He attended Little River Baptist Church and loved Alabama football and the game of golf.
While in the Army he won Germany’s highest civilian award twice. He was Golden Glove Boxing champ in South Carolina. While in Alabama, he won the only national championship in Pop Warner football.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Clanton and Todd Chance officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. hour of service. The family is accepting flowers or memorial contributions may be made to Little River Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Chance; children, Colette Chance-Tanner (Trevor), Yvette Hall (Fran McFadden), Charles Doster, Courtney Chance, Todd Destin Chance (fiancée Cindy Baker), and Tiffany Norris (fiancée Bishop Dawson); grandchildren, Celina Nachtweih, Nicholas Hall, Ryan Doster, Josh Doster, Soleil Chance, Drew Chance, Destin Chance, Beau Chance, Taylor Norris, Bailey Norris, and Chance Norris; and great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Sophia, Grant, Mila, Tyson, John Brody, Kason, Bradley, Memphis, and Scarlett.
