Dr. Buford Wayne Bagwell, 70, of Huntsville passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023.
Born in Huntsville to Buford and Martha Harris Bagwell, Wayne was a 1971 graduate of Huntsville High School. He graduated from The University of Alabama in 1974 and earned his doctorate from the National College of Chiropractic (now National University of Health Sciences) in 1978. Wayne was a member of Delta Tau Alpha honorary society and president of the Student American Chiropractic Association. He returned to Huntsville and opened Bagwell Chiropractic Clinic where he practiced for 45 years before his retirement. He served as president of the North Alabama Chiropractic Society and on the Alabama Chiropractic Peer Review Board for many years.
Wayne was a talented woodworker and enjoyed golfing and running.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Bonnie Baker Bagwell and nephew, Joseph Bagwell.
He is survived by sons, Jason Bagwell and David Bagwell; daughter, Claire Bagwell (Chase Blackwell); grandchildren, Liliana and Lauralai Blackwell; sisters, Lynn Bell (Gary) and Gail Johnson; brothers, Joe Bagwell and Tracy Bagwell (Susanne); nieces and nephews, Matt Bell (Caroline), Kristin Johnson Romback (Anthony), Anna Johnson, Lauren Johnson, Joshua Bagwell (Anne), Heather Bagwell and Jordan Bagwell; and a large extended family.
Visitation will be at 12:00 noon Monday, April 17, 2023 followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Whitesburg Baptist Church South Campus Chapel, 7300 Whitesburg Drive.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Whitesburg Baptist Church choir in memory of Wayne Bagwell.
