Graveside Services for Mr. Talmadge T. East, age 99 of Sylacauga, formerly of Lineville, will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Lineville City Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Colquett officiating.
Mr. East passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at the Bill Nichols State Veteran’s Home in Alexander City. He was born and raised in Lineville and was a graduate of Lineville High School. He worked a few years after graduating High School and signed up in the U.S. Army during World War II, traveling to Italy and North Africa during his time and serving as Military Police. Once he was home, he worked for Alabama Power for 27 years, and then for the Tennessee Valley Authority (T.V.A) for over 12 years before retiring. Following retirement, Mr. East raised animals on his farm and briefly worked at the Piggly Wiggly for a short time. Mr. East was a Kind and easy-going man, with a patient nature. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time and was a member of the Lineville Baptist Church.
Mr. East is survived by two daughters: Beth Cassell (James) of Sylacauga and Valerie East of Birmingham; his sister, Joy Oglesby of Mantero, Illinois; two brothers: Plemmer East of Oxford and Leon East (Glenda) of Rising Fawn, GA, plus other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Carl Sr and Becky Abner East; his wife, Ramona Gaither East; and two brothers: Gerald East of Lineville and Carl East Jr of Granberry, TX.
Friends and Family will serve as pallbearers.
