Terry Felton Hawkins, 67, of Hazel Green, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2023.
Mr. Hawkins was retired from the US Army after many years of faithful service to his country.
He is survived by his children: Stephanie Fowler (Patrick), Terrence Hawkins (Amy), Brianna Webb (Chris), Asa Hawkins (Angela), and Jessica Tydeman (Benjamin); fourteen grandchildren; brother, Roger Hawkins; and sister, Cindy Robinson.
Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ewing; parents, Alfred and Betty Hawkins; and brother, Bobby Hawkins.
Terry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He spent over 22 years in the Army and in Explosive Ordnance Disposal where he thoroughly enjoyed “blowing shit up”. Being an avid reader, Tom Clancy was his favorite author. He also enjoyed military history and political novels. He spent many summers throwing his kids off the tube and getting no wake violations. He loved summer and all water sports. He was an experienced scuba driver, diving the Blue Hole in Belize. He also liked to water ski, go deep sea fishing, and late-night swims before falling asleep on the back porch on a nice night. After his Army tenure, he worked with the FBI Hazardous Devices School on Redstone Arsenal. His television stayed tuned to the news, history channel, or AMC despite his inability to stay still. He retired from the FBI in 2016 and spent his retirement doing whatever he felt like. Always laughing and making jokes with his kids and loved having the grandkids come and play in the pool. Everyone has a story to tell but it doesn’t seem like enough. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 16th from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Berryhill Funeral Home, followed by memorial service at 4:00 with Rev. Tim Cole officiating.
