Janie Annette “Gaga” Powers, 73 of Elkmont, passed away on Monday, March 6th, 2023, at her residence. Mrs. Powers was born on January 19th, 1950, in Limestone County, to Carlos Lauderdale and Virginia Ruth Amerson Lauderdale.
Mrs. Powers is survived by her husband of 54 years, Curtiss E. Powers; daughter Sonya Powers McCluskey (Mike); son Curtiss E Powers, Jr. (Jackie); grandchildren Michael Alex McCluskey (Amanda), Dustin McCluskey (Haley); Curtiss E “Trey” Powers, III (Emily), Melissa Green, and Seth Green; great-grandchildren Graci Whitworth, Abbigayle Whitworth, Bryson Michael McCluskey, and Gabriel Hendricks; brothers Carlos Dwight Lauderdale (Barbara) and Stanley Lauderdale (Janie); and sister-in-law Libby Lauderdale.
She is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Virginia Lauderdale; and brother Steve Lauderdale.
A graveside service for Mrs. Powers will be Friday, March 10th, 2023, at 2:00pm at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, with Mike Owens, Gary Hargrove, and Gary Dubois officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, March 9th, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home from 5:00-8:00pm. Pallbearers will be Seth Green, Alex McCluskey, Caleb Motton, Carson Hogan, David Head, and Ed Hendricks.
Mrs. Powers was a member of Sandlin Road Church of Christ. She loved playing with her grandkids and great-grandkids, but her hobby was spoiling them! She was a kind heart who never met a stranger!
