Michael Lewis Vaughn, 62, of Athens, passed away on Thursday, February 9th, 2023, at Maury Reginal Center, Columbia, TN. Mr. Vaughn was born on February 26th, 1960, to Phillip and Margaret Vaughn.
Mr. Vaughn is survived by his parents Phillip D. Vaughn and Margaret Vaughn; uncles Bill Lewis and Wayne Vaughn (Judy); aunts Glynda Walker and Betty Pepper; and numerous cousins.
A graveside service for Mr. Vaughn will be Monday, February 13th, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery, with Bro. David Cox, Joel Hamm, and Ken Pepper officiating. Visitation will be Monday, February 13th, from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. at Limestone Chapel. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be family and friends. Burial will be at Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Vaughn was a resident of Houston, Texas. He graduated from Athens High School, attended The University of Alabama, and graduated from Athens State College. He was a member of The University of Alabama’s Million Dollar Band. In high school and college, he was in the ROTC program.
His hobby was fishing, and he was an avid Alabama football, and Houston Astros fan.
Michael spent his entire career in the space industry as a NASA government contractor ending with Boeing Aerospace on the Internation Space Station Program.
