Donalda (Donna) Bena Valera Bancroft Ferguson (May 1, 1927 – February 1, 2023)
Donalda (Donna) Ferguson, 95, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2023. She was born in Newington, Ontario, Canada, and spent her last years in Madison, AL.
She is preceded in death by her father, Franklin John Bancroft, mother, Belva Alice Taylor Bancroft, brother, John Bancroft, husband, Donald Ray Ferguson Sr, and son, Donald Ray Ferguson Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Alice Carden (Rick), grandchildren, Amanda Pearson (Shane), Amy Sontag (Brendan), and Joshua Ferguson, and great-grandchildren, Noah Pearson, Luke Sontag, and James Pearson.
In her younger years, Donna enjoyed taking care of and entering her many dogs and horses into shows. She also had a green thumb, winning several awards for best lawn in the neighborhood, and she raised hundreds of African Violets. Donna was a member of The African Violet Society and won many blue ribbons for her violets as well as for terrariums she created. Eventually rather than winning all the competitions, she started judging them instead!
Donna’s final resting place will be at Montevallo Veterans Cemetery, Montevallo, AL, where she will join her husband who was a veteran of both the United States Marine Corp and the United States Air Force.
