Doris Parker Himmel, 89, of Decatur, AL, went home to be with the Lord on January 30, 2023.
Her family will be receiving friends on Saturday from 10 AM until 11 AM at Roselawn Funeral Home in Decatur, followed by the funeral service at 11AM. Burial will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
Doris is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Irvin Himmel, parents; Howard and Mamie Parker, and brother; Hollis Parker.
She is survived by her daughter; Sylvia(Al) Stephens, son; Frank(Sandy), Himmel, and son; Jeff(Sara) Himmel, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and brother; John(Jill) Parker.
Doris was a godly woman who lived her life in service to others. She was Irvin’s loyal and loving wife as he spent his life preaching the gospel of Christ. She worked tirelessly to make their home a place of hospitality and encouragement. Doris taught piano lessons privately and at Florida College and Athens Bible School for many years. She lived with grace and will be missed.
