  Obituary of Birdie Bernice VoylesA service to celebrate the life of Bernice Haley Voyles, 100, will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday at Memorial Funeral Home with burial to follow in Magnolia Gardens.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM until service time on Saturday.

Mrs. Voyles passed away on January 30, 2023 at Mississippi Care Center. She was a hundred years young, born on June 21, 1922 to the late Ed and Vera Haley. She graduated from Farmington High School. After graduation she worked at the Corinth courthouse, then to Memphis, then back to Corinth where she worked at Bellsouth as a switchboard operator. She married Olen Voyles in 1944. They were married for 75 years until he passed away in 2020. She was a faithful member of the Booneville Church of Christ for over 50 years. She cooked food and delivered flowers to the sick and shut-ins.

She is survived by her children, Janice Nowell (Lennis) of Corinth, Billy Voyles (Diane) of Walnut, Jimmy Voyles of Saltillo, Roger Voyles of Tupelo and Carolyn Carver of Dallas, TX. She was a grandmother to eight grandchildren, Emily Kendrick (Dale), Tim Voyles, Melissa Whitten (Greg), Keith Voyles (Jamie), Mark Voyles, Lisa Byers (John) and Christin Gerold (Bryan); eighteen-great-grandchildren and eight-great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Margarite Miller and Maxine Meeks.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Olen Voyles; grandson, David Nowell; brothers, Lloyd and Gene Haley; and sister, Evelyn Tucker.

Doug Greenway will officiate the service.

Honorary pallbearers will be the great-grandson’s of Mrs. Bernice Voyles.
