Mr. Alton Rector, age 93, of Vernon, AL, passed away Monday, January 16, 2023, at his residence.
Mr. Rector was born March 26, 1929, in Vernon, AL, to the late Steven Foster Rector and Laura Dowdle Rector. He served in the U.S. Air Force, and served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After retiring from the Air Force, Mr. Rector worked as an independent maintenance worker. He was a member of the Vernon Church of Christ, and was married to the late Vera Deloris “Dodie” Rector. He was also preceded in death by his two sons, Michael Rector and Shawn Rector.
Funeral services will be Sunday, January 22, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Terry Collins and Eddie Finch officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday evening, 6:00-8:00.
