Bobby Ray Lang Bobby Ray Lang was born April 3, 1934, to Lovella and Theron Lang. He lived his young years with Walter and Reba Lawrence. He was preceded in death by his baby daughter, Melissa Ann Lang, his parents, his uncle, Walter and Reba Lawrence, and his sister, Elizabeth Cheatham. He passed away in his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, January 7, 2023.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 65 years, Wanda Wise Lang, his daughter, Wendy Carol Lang, two grandsons, Winston Lang Clements and Jorge Will Clements and his brother, Freddie Mitchell.

Bobby was a member of First Baptist Church, taught men’s bible classes and loved his Sunday School Class and the fellowship of the church. One of his fondest memories was of Sixteenth Avenue Baptist Church where he was saved and baptized. There he met and married his wife, Wanda. Wanda and Wendy were also baptized at Sixteenth Avenue Baptist Church.

Bobby was a supporter of Tennessee Valley Outreach Rescue Mission and taught bible classes there. He served on their board for more than 30 years.

He loved the Gideons and was a member for over 50 years.

Bobby loved his Lord, his church and his family and was faithful to all.

Bobby was in the automobile business all of his life and was a General Motors dealer for 21 years as the Pontiac dealer in Decatur. He felt that his employees were family working together. After purchasing the dealership, he was asked what he felt. He stated, “I am here because of God’s help. I wanted the Pontiac dealership when I was a very young man. Who gets to live their dream? Only with God’s help.”

Funeral services for Bobby will be on Wednesday January 11, 2023 at 2pm at First Baptist Church with Dr. Mark Tolbert officiating. Burial will follow in Decatur City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday January 10, 2023a2 from 5pm until 8 pm at Shelton Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Jamie Aldridge, Scott Smith, Jeff Layton, Wayne Sisk, Joel Hamm, and Gary Foster. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby’s Men’s First Baptist Sunday School Class, his Gideon’s East Camp, and the Saturday Morning Coffee Club.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideon’s International, P. O. Box 80, Decatur, AL35601, or to Tennessee Valley Outreach, 2117 Moulton Heights Rd, Decatur, AL 35601.

Shelton Funeral Home is assisting the family.
