Howard Cummings, born in Roda, Virginia on August 25, 1941, was transported to Heaven in the arms of Christ. Despite a long illness, Howard’s passing is a celebration because he has been reunited with his Lord and Savior.
Howard lived an adventurous life. He served in the military experiencing many great adventures around the world. He was a dedicated member of both the Navy and the Airforce, serving our country with bravery and honor.
Howard’s life changed forever when he met and married the love of his life, Ruby Loretta Egan-Naholowaa. Together, they raised five children – Dona Elizabeth Murph of Hilo, Hawaii, Esther Marie Naholowaa of Huntsville, Alabama, and Roberta Irene Naholowaa of Elizabethton, Tennessee. His sons, Bertrand Allen Naholowaa and Jacob Blake Cummings preceded him in death. He spent his last surviving years with his caring granddaughter and best friend, Laney Faith Moore.
His survivors include 12 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. He was a man of many passions and interests, with a deep love for classical music, science, and reading. He had a constant desire to learn and grow. He will be deeply missed by all, and his spirit and legacy will live on forever in the hearts of his loved ones. Rest in peace, Dad. You’ve earned it.
