Eddie L Travis, 76, passed away on Thursday evening, December 1, 2022 peacefully at home. He was born in Huntland, Tennessee on January 12, 1946 to E.L. and Ethel Travis.
Eddie spent majority of his life residing in the state of Alabama. Throughout his life, he was a hard working business owner in transportation and commercial real-estate. When not working, Eddie could be found embracing his love for golf and the University of Alabama football. Roll Tide! He had a passion for racing and fixing cars in his youth. He was a man of his word and never met a stranger.
Eddie is survived by his loving wife, of 26 years, Katherine “Kitty” Travis, four children, four grandchildren, three great-grand children, three sisters, one brother-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Sons: Mark Travis of Birmingham, AL and Brian Lee of Chattanooga, TN.
Daughters: Tracy Schencker(Ken) of Hoover, AL and Michelle Lee of Eureka Springs, AK.
Grandchildren: Caitlin “CiCi” Howell of Hoover, AL; Benjamin Travis of Birmingham, AL; Angela Lee of Chattanooga, TN; and Amanda Brown(Jared) of Warrior, AL. Eddie is preceeded in death by grandson, Andrew Starkey.
Sisters: Carolyn Winner of Clarksfille, IN; Helen Morris(Don) of Frankfort, KY; and Pat Wren of Chelsea, AL.
Brother-in-law: Wesley Spradlin of Kingsport, TN.
Special Mention: Kim Wallace, who is like a sister to Kitty, of Spring Hill, TN has been a true blessing to the Travis family in caring for Eddie during his last days.
Eddie had a strong faith and love for our Great God. Not only was he a loving family man, but with his jokes, beautiful voice, and smooth dance moves he was an absolute joy to be around. Eddie was a member of Church of God, a World Wide Association where his family has attended for over sixty years. Eddie had a deep love for his church family and always enjoyed getting to sing during services.
Services for Eddie Travis will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester, TN.
Visitation will be held from 11 am to 12 pm in the Chapel.
Funeral Service will begin at 12 pm in the Chapel. Service will be officiated by Eddie’s nephew, Pastor Mark Winner.
Graveside Service will immediately be following at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
