Katie M. Ratliff died Sunday morning February 24, 2013, age one hundred years and eight days. Katie was born February 16, 1913 in Morgan County to James and Trannie Pitt Washburn. She had resided in Kalamazoo since 1955, the last three years in Borgess Gardens. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Tony Ratliff; daughter and son-in-law, Wanda and Dave Harrison; son and daughter-in-law, Wilburn and Judy Ratliff; daughter-in-law, Mary, wife of Wayne Ratliff; two sisters, Mattie Weldon and Mary Lou Roberts; and one brother, Paul Washburn. She is survived by three sons, Dr. James Dwight (Doris) Ratliff of Decatur, Luther Wayne Ratliff and John Allen (Janice) Ratliff of Kalamazoo; 12 grandchildren, Lisa (Mike) Harrington, Atlanta, Jason (Amy) Ratliff, Decatur, Eddie (B.J.) Ratliff, Warner Robbins, Ga., Steve Ratliff, Redfield, Ark., Danny Ratliff and Lori Ratliff, both of Kalamazoo, Darryl (Terry) Ratliff, Rhonda (Steve) Allen, Timothy (Sonya) Ratliff, Ruth (Mike) Pohlman, all of Kalamazoo, and Kim Harrison and Kevin Harrison, both of Clarkston, Mich.; three stepgrandchildren, Alan Fitzpatrick, Roxanne Fitzpatrick and Tonya Glessner; 11 great- grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild; one sister, Eunice (Fletcher) Hill and one brother, John Washburn, all of Decatur; and several nieces and nephews. She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church of Kalamazoo. Services were held February 27th at Langland Funeral Home with interment in Riverside Cemetery.
