Mrs. Helen Elizabeth Duke Ott Mrs. Helen Elizabeth Duke Ott, age 83, of Scottsboro, Alabama passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Cloverdale Manor. She was a longtime member of the Broad Street Church of Christ where she was very active and taught bible classes for many years. Helen was a faithful servant to God, and an avid student of God’s word. She lived a wonderful life in service to her Lord, her family, and others. She was known to her family and friends as Bam, a name given to her by her first grandchild.

Helen was born on July 21, 1939 to Mark and Lura Duke. She attended school in Skyline, Alabama, where her mother was a teacher and where she met her life-long partner. She married J.W. Ott in 1955. They shared 49 ½ years of marriage and they raised three children together. Their hallmark was hospitality with their doors always open, their house was a place where everyone felt welcome and at home. Bam loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with all her heart. She loved life, laughter, and time with family and friends. She was a joyful person and a wonderful cook. She enjoyed games of all kinds, an excellent card player and member of several bridge clubs, she was always busy. She had so many friends and she was a great friend to all, whether giving compassion and encouragement in times of trouble or sharing in their joy, she loved them as family. Helen and her husband, J.W. enjoyed many years of golf and travel together, which brought them much happiness.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Brenda Devers (Keith); daughter, Rhonda Harrison (Bill); son, Greg Ott (Jeanette); grandchildren, Wendy Devers Evans (Corey); Wesley Devers (Amy); Bonnie Devers Walker (Steve); Christopher Harrison; Elizabeth Harrison; Josh Saraceni; Allison Ott Cordero (Jesus); great-grandchildren, Hunter Evans, McKinley Evans, Ava Walker, Mia Walker, Frankie Coelho, and Samuel Cordero; sister, Jackie Duke Peterson (Larry); brother in law, George Raven; sister in law, Frankie Ott; and many, many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Ott; parents, Lura Duke and Mark Duke; and sister, Leah Duke Raven.
